NAPALM DEATH

Napalm Death é uma banda de grindcore da Inglaterra, formada no vilarejo de Meriden, próximo a cidade de Birmingham no ano de 1981 por Nicholas Bullen e Miles Ratledge. O grupo é conhecido como o inventor do estilo musical definido como grindcore. No entanto, a banda progrediu neste estilo e misturou sua música com influências de Death metal e Thrash metal. Do começo da banda não há nenhum integrante original tocando na banda hoje em dia: os membros do Napalm Death mudaram-se ou montaram bandas como Carcass, Godflesh, Cathedral e Scorn, ou montaram projetos paralelos como Painkiller, Lock Up, Jesu e Venomous Concept.

Apesar de ser a primeira banda rotulado como grindcore, algumas bandas faziam um som similar como Siege, S.O.B., Larm,Heresy e Cryptic Slaughter. Ainda assim, o Napalm Death semeou a fusão da agressão do punk, os blast beats, produção metálica e vocais extremamente guturais, sinônimo do grindcore até os dias de hoje e que influenciaram grupos como Nasum e Pig Destroyer.

O álbum de estreia da banda, Scum, tornou-se substancialmente influente sobre toda a cena do metal mundial. Foi listado entre os "50 melhores álbuns britânicos da história" pela revista Kerrang! em 2005.

O Napam Death lançou até hoje 15 álbuns de estúdio, e é listado por Nielsen SoundScan como a sétima banda de death metal que mais vendeu álbuns nos Estados Unidos.
